To select an item, simply transfer it to the program using a simple drag and drop.
You can then browse through all of your disks and their contents easily (like the Finder), search by keywords, compress all of your data and archive format Zip, StuffIt, or CompactPro LHA.
You can also share files via AppleShare a wink.
Note that this free version is limited to 60 days trial.
